Visitors to El Salvador are required to be in possession of valid passports and return/onward tickets upon arrival. A visa is not required for stays under 90 days, but you must purchase a tourist card for 12 USD upon arrival. The card is valid for 90 days. If your U.S. passport shows you were born in El Salvador, you do not need the tourist card. Visa is required for a few countries. San Salvador International Airport, (SAL) or locally known as Comalapa International Airport (El Salvador International) is the largest airport in El Salvador. In total there are 27 airports around the world that have direct flights to San Salvador, spread around 26 cities in 13 countries. Currently, there are no domestic flights to San Salvador.

US Dollar is the main currency in El Salvador. We also accept all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
U.S. Dollars are accepted everywhere in El Salvador and there is no need to exchange your currency. It is recommended that you bring along smaller bills for small purchases or tipping.
For El Salvador there are two associated plug types, types A and B. Plug type A is the plug which has two flat parallel pins and plug type B is the plug which has two flat parallel pins and a grounding pin. El Salvador operates on a 120V supply voltage and 60Hz.

Yes, ground transportation can be provided in and around El Salvador and neighboring cities. Our knowledgeable team of tour guides can provide valuable information along your drive and we can arrange adventure stops en route if you so desire. Car seats are also available for younger children.
Casa Del Golfo is a two hour drive from the San Salvador International Airport (SAL). We offer transfer services which can be scheduled upon request.

El Salvador enjoys a comfortable subtropical climate with a yearly average temperature of 84 degrees fahrenheit (29 degrees celsius). Two main seasons are observed in El Salvador: wet and dry. Our rainy season being May through October and mostly dry throughout the rest of the year. In the cooler months, nighttime temperatures rarely fall lower than 60 degrees Fahrenheit. March, April and May are our hottest months and the coolest months are December & January. Hopefully not. Please note when booking that central america hurricane season commences on April 1st. but rarely does a hurricane make landfall in El Salvador. Our management and staff are fully trained to evacuate if necessary or provide safe lodging for our guests. We strongly recommend that our guests take out adequate travel insurance in the event that airports are closed in such an unlikely event.

You are welcome to book your tours in advance. Our reservations team has all the information available and our website provides detailed information on all tours and onsite activities . If you prefer to wait until you have arrived, our very knowledgeable and efficient tour desk and tour managers will be on hand to help you plan all your adventures and on-site activities once you are here. In peak season (December – April), we do recommend giving us at least a week’s notice for bookings. Casa del Golfo cannot be held liable for tours cancelled due to unforeseen weather conditions.

Our meals are not included. Both our breakfast and lunch menus offer delicious fresh and healthy meal options, many of our ingredients being seafood freshly caught. Our dinner is a course set menu offering an American dinner or national specialty. Breakfast and lunch prices range between US$5.00– US$24.00 Our set of course dinner range between US$6.95 per person
Other restaurants are available at nearby lodges, in El Tamarindo or Playas blancas. Drive time is approximately 20-30 minutes away.

The nearest hospital is the National Hospital of La Union which is located approximately 40 minutes away from Casa del Golfo, in the hotel we have a first aid kit in case of emergencies.
